General
Information
The English-instructed Master (EMA) degree in Chinese economy provides an excellent
opportunity of studying the Chinese economy for foreign individuals without
sufficient preparation in Chinese. The Program offers participants a comprehensive training
in the various fields of Chinese Economics. The Master's course covers the
areas of modern Chinese economic theory, management practices and tools, as
well political and cultural knowledge required for Chinese economy on an
interdisciplinary level. Graduates are qualified to pursue with establishing a
foundation for the participants’ future academic study or for their future
professional career. The
EMA program also admits non-degree students.
Academic Year
The
EMA degree
program requires a two-year full-time study. Degree program requires at least 31 credits in up to two academic years and successfully defend their MA thesis. The
MA thesis will be both written and defended in English. Student will be assigned a supervisor
for conducting research and school will provide logistic support to student’s
research. Non-degree students can study for one or two
semesters and should take at least 6 course credits per semester to maintain
the student status.
Degree Thesis
Students are
supposed to complete a degree thesis in English with over twelve thousands
words under tutor's supervision. Students should attend the thesis defense
organized by school within two years' period from the end of program courses
on, and will be given a master degree after passing the thesis defense and
being authorized by the Degree Authorization Committee.
Tuition and application processing fee
The two-year tuition is 100,000CNY (about 13,750USD based on the current
exchange rate).You can pay by instalment for every year or every
semester. The money order or certified checks should be payable to Foreign Student
Office of Fudan University. Application fee is nonrefundable 810CNY or 110USD
in cash, cheque or by mail remittance. For Non-degree Student, the tuition is
25,000 CNY per semester (about 3,440 USD based on the current exchange rate).
You can pay by instalment for every year or every semester.
Admission Criteria
Credentials documenting prerequisite academic work that gives evidence
of ability to pursue a graduate program in your chosen area are required. To
be considered for admission, you should have completed what Fudan University
considers the equivalent of a four-year baccalaureate or higher degree from
an accredited college or university prior to beginning graduate studies. At
minimum, a cumulative grade point average equivalent to at least 3.0 on a 4.0
scale (B grade) in all prior undergraduate college-level course work is
required. To be qualified, applicants should have a Test
of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 or higher; or an
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5 or higher.
Applicants from countries where English is the official language are exempted
from this requirement.
Non-degree Student: Applicants must be undergraduate students or have
completed a bachelor degree.

official copy of diplomas for each previous college-level degree program.
ii.One official copy of transcripts for each previous
college-level degree program.
iii.Two letters of recommendation from tenured faculty (professor or
associate professors).
iv. Official copy of TOEFL or IELTS scores if English is not applicant’s
first language.

b. Non-degree Student

*Applicants
must provide notarized copies of their diplomas and transcripts in either
Chinese or English.
Application
schedule
Degree applicants can mail applications beginning in 1st
December of each year and ending in 31st May of the following year.
Non-degree
students can apply for both Fall and Spring semesters. To apply for
Fall semester, submit application during 1st March and 31st May. To apply for
spring semester, submit application during 1st September and 30th November.
Completing the application Procedures:
- Download Admission Application Form online
and complete it. http://www.fso.fudan.edu.cn/en/ziliao.htm.
- Send the application, the application fee and
other required materials to the Foreign Student Admissions Office of
Fudan University by the application deadline.
- Both admission and nonadmission decisions
will be informed by email and by letter. If accepted, applicants will
receive an admission letter, a Foreign Student Visa Application
Form (Form JW202), and a
Physical Examination
Certificate for Foreign Citizen.
- Accepted applicants should undergo all
medical examinations required by the Physical Examination
Certificate for Foreign Citizen at private or public medical
facilities.
- Applicants should bring the admission
letter, completed Foreign Student Visa Application Form (Form
JW202), Physical Examination Certificate for Foreign Citizen, to
Chinese embassy or consulate-general for the X or F Visa. (Note:
Applicants must retain the original Form JW202. Chinese embassy or
consulate-general only requires its copies.)
Applicants must register at SIRPA with the
admission letter, the Foreign Student Visa Application Form (Form
JW202) and Physical Examination Certificate for Foreign Citizen no
later than the registration deadline indicated in the admission letter. An
approval for late registration must be issued by the SIRPA. Late registration
without a prior approval will not be accepted.
Both degree or non-degree applicants should download

via mail.
