Overview
of Fudan University
Established in 1905, Fudan
University is located in Shanghai, the most dynamic metropolis in China and
on the west coast of the Pacific. In a Chinese poem, "Fudan" refers
to unremitting effort. As one of the top universities in China, Fudan
University commits itself to academic research and education. Since the
1950s, Fudan has enrolled international students, as one of the first few
institutions in China to do so. Since that time, Fudan has accepted and
trained over 10,000 foreign students from 100 different countries and regions
worldwide.

Degree
and Non-degree Programs
The EMA degree program requires
a two-year full-time study. For non-degree student, they can study for one or
two semesters. The EMA degree program requires students to complete at least
31 non-thesis credits in up to two academic years and successfully defend
their MA thesis. The MA thesis will be both written and defended in English.
The abstract of the thesis should also be translated into Chinese.

Admission Criteria
Master Degree: Credentials
documenting prerequisite academic work that gives evidence of ability to
pursue a graduate program in your chosen area are required. To be considered
for admission, you should have completed what Fudan University considers the
equivalent of a four-year baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited
college or university prior to beginning graduate studies. At minimum, a
cumulative grade point average equivalent to at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B
grade) in all prior undergraduate college-level course work is required. To be qualified, applicants should have a
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 or higher; or an
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5 or higher.
Applicants from countries where English is the official language are exempted
from this requirement.
Non-degree Student: Applicants must be undergraduate students or have
completed a bachelor degree.
Assistantships and Fellowships
Fudan
University offers Shanghai Municipal Government Fellowship annually to
foreign students on a competitive basis. Those students that are
self-supported are qualified for competing for this fellowship according to
their academic performance and potential. Fellowship application is made in together
with application of EMA program.

*Applicants must provide notarized copies of
their diplomas and transcripts in either Chinese or English.
Tuition and application
processing fee
The two-year tuition for
degree student is 100,000CNY (about 13,7500USD
based on the current exchange rate),For Non-degree Student, the tuition is 25,000
CNY per semester (about 3,440 USD based on the current exchange rate). You
can pay by instalment for every year or every semester.
A nonrefundable fee, CNY810, is charged for each
application you submit to the Foreign Student Office of Fudan University.
No waivers of this requirement are granted.
Only money orders or certified
checks are accepted. Traveller’s checks are not accepted.
The money order or certified checks should be payable to: Foreign Student
Office of Fudan University.

Application schedule
Degree applicants can
mail applications beginning in 1st December of each year and
ending in 31st May of the following year.
Non-degree students can apply for both Fall and Spring semesters. To apply
for Fall semester, submit application during 1st March and 31st
May. To apply for spring semester, submit application during 1st September
and 30th November.
Result, either acceptance or rejection, will be emailed to the applicants as
soon as the decision is made.
Completing the
application
Both degree or
non-degree applicants should download the application form online, fill it
out, and submit it via mail. Please send applications to:

Procedures:
a.
Download
Admission Application Form online and complete it. http://www.fso.fudan.edu.cn/en/ziliao.htm.
b.
Send the
application, the application fee and other required materials to the Foreign
Student Admissions Office of Fudan University by the application deadline.
c.
Both admission
and non-admission decisions will be informed by email and by letter. If
accepted, applicants will receive an admission letter, a Foreign Student Visa
Application Form (Form JW202), and a Physical Examination
Certificate for Foreign Citizen.
d.
Accepted
applicants should undergo all medical examinations required by the Physical
Examination Certificate for Foreign Citizen at private or public medical
facilities.
e.
Applicants
should bring the admission letter, completed Foreign Student Visa
Application Form (Form JW202), Physical Examination Certificate for
Foreign Citizen, to Chinese embassy or consulate-general for the X or F
Visa. (Note: Applicants must retain the original Form JW202. Chinese embassy
or consulate-general only requires its copies.)
f.
Applicants must
register at History Department with the admission letter, the Foreign
Student Visa Application Form (Form JW202) and Physical Examination
Certificate for Foreign Citizen no later than the registration deadline
indicated in the admission letter. An approval for late registration must be
issued by History Department. Late registration without a prior approval will
not be accepted.
